Support Us

As a registered charity, Greyfriars relies on the support of its friends and old members. The Society accepts gifts of all sizes by cash, cheque, standing order, direct debit, charity vouchers and bequests. If you are a UK taxpayer, your gift can be enhanced by filling out a Gift Aid Declaration which will enable us to reclaim the tax for any amount you give us.

Please print and fill in the donation form and send it with your donation to The Bursar, Greyfriars Hall, Iffley Road, Oxford, OX4 1SB. Alternatively, please email treasurer@greyfriars-society.org or call 01865 243694 and ask to speak to the Bursar for more information.

Greyfriars now also participates in the Oxford University Platinum Plus Visa card. This means that we receive a contribution every time a new account is opened and from every purchase made with the card. The card shows a picture of Greyfriars with the Hall's Arms. Please call MBNA on 0800 776 262 for more information.

All donations, no matter how small, are gratefully received. Whilst paying for the running of the Society, alumni donations are also needed for the following areas:

The Thomas Weinandy Library Programme

Greyfriars Library With plans to expand the capacity of the Hall library, money is desperately needed to provide new books for Greyfriars students. For Greyfriars to give a world class education, it is extremely important that our library remains up to date. To show our appreciation to our departing Warden, Father Thomas Weinandy, the Greyfriars Society hopes to raise enough money to make significant improvements to the English, Geography, History, Law and Theology collections. Book donations are also eagerly welcomed.

Student Bursaries

Extra-Curricular Activities: Rugby The government is planning to substantially increase tuition fees in 2006, so the costs of receiving an education and living away from home will continue to rise. There are times when, for unexpected reasons, some students find themselves unable to meet these costs. The Greyfriars Society wants to provide an emergency fund to cover individuals' rent and expenses during times of particular hardship, and bursaries to provide the financial resources for the continuing participation of Greyfriars students in university-wide extra-curricular activities.

Hall Facilities

Student Facilities As the Greyfriars student population expands, with an increased number of students visiting from abroad, the hall needs to provide adequate accommodation and facilities for undergraduates.
